The White
Wizard Stories
|
|
And now for something
completely different. Have you ever wondered what it would be like if
you were a writer and one of your characters walked out of Time and
Place to land on your doorstep in answer to your desperate desire to
save the world? These tales are best described as contemporary
fantasy--set here and now, but with an element of fantasy that the
other characters must come to grips with. There are actually three
novels, but the third is again only about 2/3rds complete, so it won't
be available for download.

Wizard Out of Time and
Place
When
Michelle Gabriel isn't teaching high school English (or trying to) at
Redford High in Detroit, she is writing The White Wizard novels, about
an avatar she tossed into the fantasy realm of Merovingia as a young
man. Imagine her shock when Christopher Josephson shows up on her
doorstep one cold February night in answer to her desperate plea to
save the world.
This set of five short stories and one novella follow Michelle and
Chris as they deal with the crisis in the Middle East, the creeping
darkness of dispair in the schools, the Irish Republican Army,
Michelle's estranged husband and the AIDS crisis, North Korea, and how
to fund cheap access to space.

Comfort Ye, My People
J. D. Branfield, a Congressman
from Detroit, is gravely concerned about the genocide going on in
Central Africa, but doesn't think sending troops over there will solve
the problem. What's needed is a whole different approach.
He finds this approach in the
last place he expects--Redford High School, where his son is a senior.
Before he knows it, he's been drafted to serve as King of the City of
Grace and Truth. Here he meets Michelle Gabriel and Chris Josephson. So
taken is he with the effect on his son of the idea that if one person
can
share love, honor, and comfort with everyone around him or her, and
that encourages those people to go and do likewise that he vows
to do whatever is necessary to enable that idea to spread.
And spread it does with his
help and that of Michelle and Chris--even into the Heart of Africa.

Name Above All Names
Andrea
Czyzinski found a way to comfort Kit Branfield after the death of his
mother the previous fall. Now it's spring, and time to select next
year's courses at Redford High. Instead of being assigned to classes,
students get to pick the teachers they want--and the teachers have to
compete for students. Andy is determined to get to Michelle Gabriel for
English before everyone else does.
In the crush before the doors to the gym open for the Preselection
Faire, she bumps into Kit again. This time he and his best friends
stick to her as if by glue, not only for that day, but throughout the
summer. The inseperable foursome help their teachers learn how to
teach, and the boys help Andy figure out how to help her younger
brother deal with the gang he's been sucked into.
This tale fills in the blanks between the stories in Wizard Out of Time and Place, as
well as what led to the implementation of the City of Grace and Truth
that Kit's father finds so endearing.
Again, this story is incomplete, so it is not available for download.
